This case study goes over the different projects I did during my time as a graphic designer for Topic, the streaming service for foreign thrillers. I had a wide range of design responsibilities such as resizing key art for different streaming platforms (Amazon Prime, Roku, Apple TV, Youtube), selecting stills to then edit for background art, and creating some promotional content for their social media.

It was a great privilege to work alongside many other creatives in the entertainment and media industry, which I have always had an interest in.

During my time as a graphic designer for Topic, I would work independently and collaboratively with other designers. The feedback and help I had access to was a great resource while also letting me continue working on projects on my own.

The background art and resizing key art to fit different streaming platforms was a fun challenge. It made me more aware of designing while paying attention to the User Interface, as well as allowing me to perfect my photoshop abilities. Additionally, I illustrated and animated a holiday gif for First Look Media, the parent company of Topic, to send out for their annual holiday email.

Key Art

One of my main responsibilities was resizing key art and creating background art while paying attention to the User Interface design of any given service.

Each streaming service (Roku, Amazon Prime TV, Apple TV, Youtube, and more) would have different guidelines as to where the user navigates the menu. I would receive the UI guidelines and make key art and background images that would not obstruct the menu or get cropped out.

Pull Quote

Another recurring project I would work on was Pull Quotes to promote the show / movie on social media (mainly Instagram)

The pull quotes would be given to be along with a streaming link and timestamp. I was in charge of image selection and editing the stills to go with the quote, as well as following the Topic style guide for typesetting the quote.

Happy Holidays Gif

I was given the opportunity to create a Happy Holidays gif for the company to send to all of their members and employees.

I animated the gif and sent it for approval, and during the holidays the First Look Media team (the parent company) sent out the gif with their annual holiday email to the company and staff.
